These dramatic hydraulic gull wing doors are made with flat panes of glass in a curved frame. The curved walls are elegant and unique openings to the building. They pivot to come to rest as canopies, floating over the terrace and allowing indoor and outdoor spaces to merge.
Even when closed they allow sunlight to stream into the building. Due to their top panes facing skywards they give far more natural light than conventional windows.
They are separately openable in around 30 seconds. During closing the speed restriction valving allows a soft descent under the force of gravity. Safety beams protect the closing walls from trapping objects during movement.
The minimal ‘blade’ frame means that despite the overall size and 1650kg weight of the walls, the structure is thin to allow in maximum light as well as have a beautiful appearance.
The curved profile of the walls closely reflects those of the house and typifies the meia bespoke approach, allowing us to create one-of-a-kind installations with high quality materials for a long and trouble free lifespan.
